Rorschach Entertainment Submissions PDF Print E-mail

What to include in your Submissions Packet:
Each submissions packet should always include a cover letter, letting us know who you are, your intent, how to get a hold of you and if you have any prior working experience in comics or some other artistic mediums. Include a self addressed stamped envelope if you wish a reply, which we will always do one way or another. Only send photocopies of your best work, never originals for we will not be held responsible for their return.

Send all submissions to:
Attn: James Taylor
Rorschach Entertainment
15806 18th Ave. W, #F-203
Lynnwood, WA 98087

Or you can email to: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
Please either send a link to the direct samples you want us to look at or attach the files but keep under 5mb.

What happens after we've received your Submissions Packet:
If we have an immediate interest and need in your work we will contact you by either email or phone.

All other submissions will be kept on file as well, which means that at that point either we don't have a current opening for you but like your stuff or you have some practicing to do. As long as you send a SASE we will always reply back to you in a reasonable amount of time.

Just because we don't hire you does not mean you don't have a future in the comic book industry, there are many truly gifted artist out there that struggle to find work in this business. It takes years of practice and patients in order to develop the skills truly necessary to work in this field. No matter what, never give up hope. As long as you enjoy drawing and/or writing keep at it.

Creator Owned Projects:
We are always looking for quality creator-owned projects in all genres, though admit it's rare that we pick one up (most publishers can say that).

The ideal submission should include a cover letter, a brief overview of the story, 5 pages of script and 5 full size copies of pencils/art of continuous pages. We prefer to work with a pre-assembled teams, with limited manpower it would be hard for us to find the time to put together artists and writers on a regular basis.

We are interested in mini-series, at a maximum of 4 issues, and one-shots. We are not interested in an ongoing series or a maxi-series. Though if your mini-series can continue on in additional mini's in the future we would be perfectly happy with that.

The types of things that we're looking for and will be doing in the future:
Crime
Horror (though no zombies)
Dark Themes
Thrillers

No Superheroes!

Writers:
We are currently not accepting submissions for writers.

Pencillers:
Send us up to 6 copies of sequential art with no more than 1 cover/pinup piece. If you also ink your own work feel free to send copies of your inks in addition to the pencils.

We are looking for clarity in your storytelling abilities and your overall design of panels/pages. Don't show us only action panels; throw in some slower paced samples as well. Make sure that your samples include women, men, facial expressions, mood, buildings/backgrounds, depth, and different points of view. You should be able to take a script, adapting it to pictures to the point that words are almost not needed.

We are very open to diverse styles; we will not limit ourselves to one style or another.
Uniqueness is al

Inkers:
Send up to 6 copies of inked sequential art and include copies of the pencils. If you are looking for work solely as an inker then please work over samples of someone else's pencils.

Show us your ability to produce clean and printable work, which includes both clarity and depth. Keep in mind that we view inking as an art form, where you work with and mesh with a penciller in order to bring out a better product. If you can't make the pencils better then you need to keep practicing.

Letterers:
Send up to 6 samples at print size. Show us diversity and your sound effect capabilities. Many people may not say it but lettering, typography, is an art form.

Colorists:
We're mostly a black-n-white publisher, though we do look for cover colorists and may have some full color comic books in the future.

Please send up to 6 samples of your work on cd, color copies or printed.

Other Mediums:
We are always interested in seeing something different than traditional comic book art. So please send us copies of your work whether it be painting, digital work, mixed media or anything else you may do.
