Well I was on the way up to the show, which I enjoyed quite a bit last year, and I got stopped at the border. Last year we were waved right through but for some reason the border agent was quite mean (which is a really nice way of saying it). Something about us that they didn't like. Admittedly I didn't declare the comic books were for sale but did say I had some - as we were visiting my sister and kids in addition to working the show. Anyway they searched the vehicle, found prints, multiple copies of comics, original art and of course price signs which was probably the worst giveaway that we were coming up to work. Basically since we didn't have a work permit we were turned away at the border. Luckily they didn't seize anything but I do have a fine coming in the mail. I'm sorry I didn't make it up there and say hi to all the people we met last year. We're going to do our best to make it there in 2010 as well. Best, James Taylor Publisher & Editor-in-Chief |
